For the first time rolled foil mirror optics have been fabricated by winding a polyimide foil carrying suitable spacers. These optics can be used at synchrotron sources as well as at laboratory sources for illuminating

samples. Mirror optics in general show two essential advantages compared to e.g. refractive rolled X-ray prism lenses: The absorption in the optics is significantly lower and they are achromatic, that is not depending on the wavelength of the light. Low absorption allows to use these optics at X-ray laboratory sources, even at high photon energies and for short distances between source and sample. Achromaticity is an important advantage when using different photon energies.
