A prepared frog has been phase contrast imaged at TUM. The experiment was performed to investigate the possibility to image larger objects using a stitched large area X-ray grating made out of four individual gratings.
The challenge in stitching gratings is to avoid visible effects at the borders between the grating tiles. Single gratings today can be manufactured at IMT/KIT with a maximum edge length of 50 mm. For imaging larger objects, e.g. in mammography, stitched gratings have to be made, requiring precision in the range of a few micro metres.
